Let’s Play

"Yeah, piece of cake!"

93% of Americans can't name all of these home video games. The first home video game console that users connected to a TV set was 1972's Magnavox Odyssey, but we've come a long way since Pong and the blocky graphics of those early consoles. The Atari 2600 created gaming fever by bringing arcade games such as Pac-Man home. By the late '80s and early '90s, the golden age of arcade games had passed and players focused their attention on home gaming systems such as the Nintendo Entertainment System, Wii, PlayStation, Xbox and tricked-out home computers. Duck Hunt was the launch game for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1985. Mortal Kombat II first appeared in arcades in 1993 and then was adapted for several home gaming systems. Nintendo's Mario Kart video game series features go-kart racing and the Mario character, who first appeared in Donkey Kong. Street Fighter II: The World Warrior was ported from arcades to the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1992 and became one of the console's most popular games. Other popular video games you'll come across in this quiz include Resident Evil, Final Fantasy, Halo, Myst, Doom, Quake, Unreal Tournament, Serious Sam, Diablo, Tetris, Donkey Kong World, Call of Duty, Chrono Trigger and many more.
